From the wilderness of Rannoch Moor, with its vast landmass and the endless resources of water,
to the Pass of Glencoe with its haunted history and the beauty of Glen Etive with its high peaks
towering the skies. That is how our journey begins.
This is not just a landscape, this is a place that even if you want you can’t avoid but photograph it.
Glencoe and the nearby Rannoch Moor contain some of the UK`s best wild mountain and
moorland scenery. If you are lucky to see it with some cover of snow and ice, bathed in the
gorgeous low sun light, these areas become simply magical.
There is simply so much to photograph in this area, that the experience is truly breathtaking.
The scenery keeps changing the whole time, as the mood and atmosphere of the ever changing
light, can play games with the landscape changing it so fast that one can only be amazed.
When Buachaille Etive Mor is covered with snow and the early morning sunlight touches its peak,
then the experience can become very striking and spectacular. Add to this another early morning
with a sunrise over Lochan na h-Achlaise with its still water and the black mount as a backdrop
and you are in for a once in a life time experience.
During the winter months the sun remains low in the sky, giving you the opportunity of all day
shooting. And let’s not forget the 3 sisters with the pass of Glencoe with its panoramic views or the
loch Achtriochtan with its most exquisite location for landscape photography. And we top it up with
the view of the Pap from Glencoe.
This is an area that used to support nothing but ice, snow and glaciers not that long ago. They all have left their mark and that is quite obvious even to this day. During our workshop, we will try to get as much of this beauty as we can.
We will be based at the Kings house hotel, right in the heart of Glencoe. Breakfast is served in the lounge where the view of Buachaille Etive Mor and the surrounding mountains is simply breathtaking, putting you in the mood for further exploration of the area.
